Dorm Selection

I will be attending PSU this upcoming fall and was wondering what I should put down as my top dorm choices. As a freshmen, which dorm will give me the best overall experience?

Any response is appreciated. Thanks!

East halls is where all we freshman will be this fall!!

Yes that’s apparently where most freshmen live, but is it their a better option for me to put down first?

Yea I think north halls is the “next” for freshman but what I have heard is that it gets pretty lonely but it is all to your discression. Personally for me, I wouldn’t recommend it!

That depends on what you’re looking for. I’ve heard east is good for you if you want to be surrounded by only freshman, don’t mind it being noisy/crazy/the long walk to classes/etc. Some people love it there probably because you’ll no doubt meet a ton of people. However, you don’t have to go to east; you are certainly allowed to choose another dorm. For instance, some freshmen lived in south halls this year, and last year I know some freshmen were in west. I think if you live almost anywhere on campus you’re going to meet people, so that shouldn’t be a problem. And don’t think just because you aren’t in east, there won’t be other freshmen. All of Hoyt Hall (in south) was freshmen this year.

South is right next to downtown, not too far from classes, and pretty good food. It can be loud at times especially if you have a window facing the street. West has good food, is the closest to a lot of classes, and is a bit quieter. I really don’t know anything about North. Pollock…people don’t really say too much about it. That’s because it’s kind of “medium”…it’s near south halls, has a good buffet, not too too far from classes.

Good luck!

I was in Pollock my first two years. I liked it. It was lively but not crazy, and it’s a pretty good location. Very close to town and not too far from classes. Lots of parties - but you could get away and study if you want to.
