Hi, I was just wondering what kind of furniture is included in the dorm rooms of BEST Hall. Do we buy stuff for the kitchen or is it a community kitchen which is shared by all and the supplies are included? I honestly have no idea what to shop for. Please help. Thanks! :)

i lived in a upperclassman suite on busch not BEST but our suites provided couches provided seating for 7 people in living room.

Here are some things you should buy:

-Foam mattress which is the thing you lay on top of bed. Some beds are hard while others are normal so buy one just in case.
-Most annoying alarm clock
-Cleaning supplies for bathroom and toilet paper

As you go shopping you will find things that you might want to buy depending on your personal preferences. Also, almost every freshmen go to Target Night at rutgers and buy anything they forget to bring from home.

I lived/live at BEST.

Foam mattresses are a must for the beds, they add another level of comfort. The doors at rutgers are made to close automatically, so that any fires are kept within the room, or out depending on where the fire originated. So this year I’m getting myself a doorstopper. Stuff for the bathroom because you have to restock yourself. Also, a toilet brush to keep your toilet clean duh.

Since the suites are junior suites we have a community kitchen which is going to have stoves installed the upcoming year (About time -___-) We only had oven and microwaves before. You don’t really HAVE to bring anything for the kitchen unless plan on cooking for yourself all the time. A small pot should suffice for whatever you wanna make.

The rooms come with: Two desks, two wardrobes, four dressers (two small that go under the desk and two large ones for your clothes.)

You have to bring a TV if you wanna watch, obviously. Buy an aux cable for the tv or you could just buy it on move-in day, whichever you want. I recommend the former, it’s probably cheaper. The rooms are huge, but kinda plain so bring stuff to decorate just make sure it doesn’t ruin the walls or you’ll get a fee later on :/

These are just some starters. If you ever feel like you need something else there’s always Target Night and your parents.

Don’t forget water bottles, soap, paper towels, and sponges.

Don’t buy water bottles! Use a jug of Bretta water filter. Not only drinking filtered water is healthier than bottled water, it will also save you money over long period of time, and it’s better for the environment as well. There is no difference in taste between Bretta filtered water and bottled water.

If I’m not mistaken my friend who’s friends with Jessica, the lady in charge of BEST, said we might also have water fountains installed. But get the bretta filter, I wasted a **** ton of money last year buying bottles of water :(

Brilliant idea about the jug of brita water. For the winter, heavy comforter or regular but with a their for layering? Thanks.

I meant “throw” blanket. Oops. ^_^

Yes, BEST does have a water fountain, but the water still has a tinge of taste of chlorine. So I took my Brita and filtered the water from the fountain to get rid of the taste.

Thanks, everyone. These are all great suggestions and I’ll keep them in mind.

Also, does anyone know when they will notify us about who our roommates are? Will they be letting us know via email or mail?

You’ll probably get an e-mail letting you know by the beginning of August. Mid-August the latest.
