Does anyone know if there's a stove or oven in a&m dorms?

The RA's have one in their rooms or there is a room with a stove that RA's have access to and can let you use. I don't think you can use it every day or anything like that, though.

Dorm rooms are not equipped w/ mini-fridges or microwaves. You can bring your own or rent them but check the Housing web site for size restrictions.

My son had a mini-fridge and a microwave in his room but didn't use it much. With the all you care to eat meal plans, you won't go hungry.

Not having a mini-fridge and a microwave in your room will also help you avoid the freshman 15's.

BTW, be conservative on the # of meals that you buy on the meal plan. You can always add, but if you buy too many meals, there is no refund for the unused meals. Parents tend to go overboard on the number of meals that they buy to make sure their kids have plenty to eat but you will get tired of the on-campus food pretty quick.

wow- ditto on the meal plan comment!
It is so easy to buy too many meals and get stuck trying to use them all at the last minute (which of course is almost impossible, although I did use 35 in the last 3 days at the c-store. be prepared for no selection and long lines). Also, a lot of organizations give out free food, so you will pay for meals less frequently than you expect. I didn't use my refrigerator very much, but the microwave was good when it was late and everything had closed. In the modular dorms, Hall Directors have a full kitchen, and depending on your relationship with the HD, they will let you use it whenever you ask. In dorms like in FHK, they have a room with an oven, fridge, and supplies that they typically keep unlocked even late at night for student use. I don't know about the commons...
