Dorming as a local transfer

Hi everyone!

I will be transferring to UCLA next year and was wondering what your opinions are on where is best to dorm as a transfer and opinions on double vs triple and shared vs private bathroom. (Let’s assume that finances aren’t an issue…)

Any experience on what the transfer dorming communities are like is greatly appreciated!

Also, I will probably not be eating breakfast every day and going home/eating out on the weekends so any suggestions on meal plans would be appreciated. (I read the pinned housing thread and it seems like the information might be outdated? Also, do you really walk all the way back to the hill for lunch? (My major is psych and I think I would be spending most of my classes on the other side of campus???)

Thank you!

a lot of people who live in the local area only go home once or twice a quarter. By going home on the weekends you’ll miss a big part of the college experience. A lot of the friendship building happens when people hang out together on Fri nite or the weekends. The benefit isn’t just making friends but in tapping into a larger network that knows about opportunities, has tips on how to succeed in school, find internships, etc. On the other hand your roomate(s) will definitely appreciate your being gone
