Dorms and Food

Since it seems to be a major concern for some, there is no Chik Fil-A on the University of Miami campus. The nearest one is at Dadeland Mall, which is 2.5 miles away and easily reached by Uber or MetroRail.

There are many food options around campus including the food court at the student center. Starbucks, Subway, Panda Express, Burger 305, Jamba Juice among others.

JMU is ranked one of the top 10 college campus food places in the nation. I think (?) they have 2 Chik Fil-A places on campus, Freshens, Qdoba, Steak-N- Shake, Auntie Annie’s, Dunkin’ Donuts, Subway & Starbucks. They are within a 15 minute walk (and free transport) to downtown, which has been named a “culinary destination.”

The freshman dorms are across the board, some nice, some no AC. They do have an Arts dorm for 1st year theatre students with practice spaces and a collaborative seminar class. They also have a quieter honors dorm. Dorms were average to above average for what we’ve seen for first years.

There is on campus living for second years, but most live off campus. Living arrangements vary, but are very affordable, close to campus, and have free transport for a lot of the places.
