this question is for current students at Penn or any CCer’s that have visited the campus and seen the dorms. I was wondering which dorms are the best (newest, biggest cleanet etc.). Also, what are suites like at Penn?

u maderchod sexyyeti, start ur other 15 applications

well if you can't find any dorms at Penn that don't suit you, you're always welcome to sleep every night under the button

high-rises... especially the quads... then again sansom is very roomy for a 2 person... then again, the quad has really nice rooms for doubles as well... don't ask me, i'd love hill too, even if it has roaches etc.

I read that the high-rises don't have much privacy because of their huge windows. ;)

I think there's a joke in there somewhere...

yea for some reason the blinds dont work in high rises....just hearsay

i heard there was a mice problem in the quad. ahh someone save me (if i get in haha).

A friend of mine got into Penn and very luckily got a double room all to himself. The dorms in my view are rather small otherwise though.

CC Class of 2005, Good Times

Quad- Most social and probably the best overall traditional style dorms...Period. To my surprise, several singles. Rodents are only around if you are not clean. I haven't had a rodent problem yet.

FreakedOut- I DEFINATELY get the joke, good one. It is going down in Penn history, lol.

UPenn Class of 2009 and I'm loving it!

Most social=Hill Quad still rocks though. Don't do Samson as a frosh.

High Rises offer as much privacy as you want. Its just that not everybody makes good decisions (this goes to the photog as well).

I'm sure the blinds work. Its the power and water that is suspect up there.

Penn should start a photojournalism department...

yes. they should. and we got this forum over 31 pages, so we mustn't let it slip under 30!

Really, as a freshman, I'd say Hill is soo unbelievably convenient. Although, it becomes a bit of a problem for choosing rooms for your next year if you wanted to live in say, the quad or something. And I dunno about roach probelms in hill but there definitely is a mice problem. Actually, they're kinda cute, heh..but dirty as hell.

but hey mice/roaches can be good for us guys... you know... opportunities to keep our manly arms open and offer protection to all them girly girls... ;)

hides from the feminist movement

I live in Sansom and it is very old and very disgusting. Avoid both East/West at all costs...

hill is very convenient if you are in engineering. so convenient that i may stay next year.

which is best for wharton?

and which has the highest chances of getting a single?

If you are a freshman, go for Hill. The rooms may be smaller, but it's in a very convenient location with its own dining hall. It's the closest house to the 30th Street Market Septa station if you plan on going outside of Philly (I use it to go to Jersey once in a while), and it's near the Wawa and not too far from most Freshman classes. Also, it is a short walk to DRL if you have classes there (or other engineering classes). Hill only sucks if you have classes in Huntsman (a far walk from Hill). Other than that, Hill is great for freshmen, but the Quad is roomier and prettier. I still think the advantages of Hill outweigh the advantages of the Quad.

Zuckie: The Quad is probably better for Whartonites because you are closer to Huntsman and Logan/College Hall/Nursing Building, where a lot of econ courses are if you are taking those. If you have math or science classes though, realize that they are a far walk from the Quad. Similarly, having OPIM or Management while being in Hill also means a far walk.

dont go hill - go quad quad quad hill like i did, and you will probably still get stuck in hill. The dining hall food is not very good anywhere. also, there is no ac in hill. (it is nice to wake up 15 min before class at lrsm and still be able to get food). Hill is very convenient for me though, especially since I have to go to lrsm 2x a day (with 2 hour breaks) 3 days a week.

Dude college food as a whole is never very good. And AC doesn't matter when the cold winds start to kick in. There are more cold moments than hot at Penn. It is only unbearable at the beginning and only if you lack a fan or anything like that.
