Hey everybody! I got into Williams (extremely happy about it!), and soon I will have to fill in the housing form. I wasn't able to visit Williams during Previews, so I don't know much about the dorms. Does anybody know what frosh quad and mission are like? Would you recommend one above the other?
Thanks a lot.

I’d say the most important criterion is whether you want to have a room to yourself or if you’d rather share it. Frosh Quad consists mainly of doubles; Mission mainly of singles. So if you would really rather not have a roommate, try to get into Mission.

Other things: Mission is further away from the main buildings on campus, while Frosh Quad is right next to the student center (Paresky). Mission has its own dining hall, though, so during winter you don’t have to walk across campus in the cold to eat (although oftentimes it’s worth it). If appearance matters, Mission’s architectural design is a bit weird (it was made to prevent student riots).

Also check the “Willipedia”. Hail mighty Ephs.

Another difference between Mission and Frosh Quad: In Mission, you share a large common room with about twenty other people, who comprise your entry. In Frosh Quad, I think you share a smaller common room with only two or three dorms.

I was only there for Previews, and I didn’t hang out much in Frosh Quad, but personally, I prefer Mission from my limited experience.

By the way, I was emailed by a current student, who offered to answer any questions. Dunno if you got that email or not, but the student was very helpful.
