Dorm Help?

Hey, I just sent in my deposit -- whatup class of 2010!

just wondering, which dorms are the nicest for freshmen??
(NICE= big, clean, fun)

mission-- brand new singles

Hi. Looks like I will be in the class of 2010 with you!

Good to know... I will keep mission in mine.

i believe that, due to the new housing policy, most, if not all, incoming freshmen will be housed at mission and a nearby dorm. plus, most of the dorms are singles, so thats a good news.

so, yeah, see you all in the fall!

the frosh quad is pretty great also. really, you guys are super lucky.

Freshmen are housed either in Mission or in the Frosh Quad. All of the rooms in Mission are singles, but at least half or more of the rooms in the frosh quad are doubles, so don't think it's a sure thing.

I'm living in Mission this year, and I lived in the Frosh Quad last year. Honestly, both places are great. The frosh quad definitely encourages a certain type neighborly atmosphere, and the rooms are nice. Mission is similar in both regards, though perhaps not to the same extent.

when i visited, i only saw a Frosh Quad dorm room...are the Mission ones very different in terms of size and cleanliness?

also, i think Mission has fewer common rooms (= more people to each common room), no? does that make a big difference?

I'd say that the one downside to Mission is that it seems out of the way of everything else/kind of isolated. However, the rooms are nice (about as large as you could expect for college).

As someone who lived in Mission last year, it's really not that bad. For one, you're very near the frosh quad (nearer than the previous frosh housing was). Secondly, the snack bar and a major campus dining hall is in Mission. Third of all, about half of the frosh will be in Mission and the other half will be about 100 yards away in the frosh quad. Finally, you're surrounded by the newly-formed Dodd Neighborhood, and Dodd house and dining hall is very near by, which will become somewhat of a campus hub...

So while Mission is towards one end of the campus, Williams is a small enough campus that it's no big deal...and I think you'll find that it will end up not feeling isolated in the least for all of the reasons I described above.
