I was just wondering if it's possible to get a single at Frosh Quad? And since right now getting a single in my #1 priority in housing, can I request Frosh Quad with a single as my #1 choice and Mission Park with a single as my #2 choice?

also any insights about social life at the two buildings would be appreciated

Yep, there are definitely many singles available if you choose frosh quad.

Mission has mainly singles; Frosh Quad has mostly doubles.

If having a single is your number one priority I was go to Mission. There you’ll be assured of a a single.

Further, since every one else has a single it’s a nice environment for singles.

I have a single in frosh quad, and I love love love it - there’s the convenience of my own room, the superior location (it’s the most central you can get), the collegiate feeling of a quad, and its pretty (oak crown moldings and granite counters don’t hurt either). The fact that a lot of people are in doubles has had very little effect on my social life - keep in mind that there are other people in singles too, and everyone’s just looking to make friends. Before I left for college, someone told me that within each entry in frosh quad, there tend to be subdivisions based on floor, but I haven’t encountered that. Sure, you might get to know your floormates first before the rest of the entry, but you soon find your group of friends, regardless of which floor they live on.

Mission is nice too - the hill is invigorating for your calves, and its nice having a dining hall downstairs. Most of the people I know live in frosh quad (just because it’s easier to get to know people who live around you), but my friends who live in mission really like it (having one big common room for the entire entry is nice).

On my housing form, I just put down that I wanted a single, and I guess I got lucky with a single in frosh quad (though to be honest, I think there are a lot more singles than people give it credit for). My friend did the same thing you’re talking about - I think she put down a single as her number one, and then requested in the comments section that it be in frosh quad. She actually ended up in a double in frosh quad (she loves it anyway). That might not happen for you, though, and hopefully you’ll luck out with a fourth floor single - those are huge, and they have vaulted ceilings!
