I was looking at the website for housing and all I could find was freshman and upperclassmen...last I knew , sophomores were not considered upper classmen , so why no info for this class ? Is it in limbo because of the new dorm construction ? Does anyone know what kind of dorms will be available for second year students ? Suite style or another box ?

Well currently most of the sophomores live in Davenport which are suite style anyways. I am not sure if sophomore will be allowed to live in the new Parcel 18 but either way, housing will be nice.

yes sophomores are considered upperclassmen - and live in suite style housing. There are a few buildings that are predominately sophomores; take a look at this fact sheet which is available on the website - it shows the current percentages of each class in different buildings

Basically all upper-class buildings are open to any class (except West Village H, which is 21+). My sophomore year, all my friends lived in different dorms, and there were people of all different classes in my dorm. It's all suite/apartment style.

The upperclassmen LLCs, except for Honors, will be in Parcel 18. Sophomores can technically live in any non-freshmen only building-- so any of the West Village buildings (except for H), Davenport, Willis, Coventry, Loftman, Huntington Ave, Rubenstein, St Stevens... The problem is the best ones will fill up, so even though sophomores CAN live there, it doesn't mean that many will find spots there.

I was hoping that my daughter would get into some type of suite housing..she wanted to live off campus , but I think another year in the dorms is better. It would definately benefit her to have a bit more space than she currently has in Speare.
I have heard that some housing is more pricey than others too...I don't want to have a bigger bill than I have to

All of the pricing is on the housing website. Most upperclassmen dorms run for about 4500+ each semester.

West Village and Dav, the "enhanced" apartments are the most expensive. I lived in loftman for a semester and really liked it, and leased properties are a good option also. But sophomores usually get the shaft with housing and end up in Davenport or Willis. I didn't even get to choose my housing, they just placed me because my lottery number was so bad. Either way, she'll have much more space in any sophomore dorm than she did as a freshman.

Only about 500 sophomores get to choose their housing. Housing lottery numbers this year for sophomores is from 3500 to 6500, or around there. As 3517, I am able to pick my room and roommates online, which is really nice. However, my friends with 4000 (about) or greater can not, and they have to be placed in housing. It is slightly different I think for LLC choosing, but I am not exact sure.
