Could anyone give an overview of what the freshmen dorms are like? I haven't heard that many good things about them.

anyone at all?

Well, it really depends where you get placed. If you haven't heard good things, you're probably hearing about the Stetsons/Speare which are dorms where a lot of the freshman live. These are very traditional "cell block" dorms, with communal bathrooms. They're no worse than dorms at any other school.

If you luck out as a freshman though, there are suite and apartment style dorms, and they're really nice. Things are a little different for the incoming 09 freshman because they'll be opening the brand new Parcel dorms which are two towers (one has 19 floors, the other 22) of really nice rooms and a new dining hall. So, if you're lucky, you'll be living in almost-luxury rooms. If you aren't so lucky, you'll just be in the standard dorms.

That's all freshman housing though, Upperclass housing is apartment-style and really nice, but more expensive than living off-campus.

Alright. That's good to know. Thanks.

It's very hard to say. For the past two years and this year, the best freshmen dorm has been West Village F, which is honors only. It's suite-style, with a kitchen and private bathrooms. However rumor has it that it will become upperclassmen next year, and honors freshmen (and non-honors freshmen as well) will move to the new dorms openning up. The new ones I'm pretty sure are going to be just as good as West Village F.

However, even Speare/Stetsons are nice. They aren't great, but there is enough room and the people are great. NEU is very big on dorm activities as a freshman, so you'll always have things going on for your floor/dorm.
