I recently changed my mind about university housing and decided to apply for private housing.
It was a tough choice, but I want to get a good gpa freshmen year (a really good gpa) and I didn't think university housing would really give me the room for that (someone step in if they think otherwise!).

Originally I was going to apply for six pack but I decided to change my mind.
I was hoping someone could point out any social private dorms. I'll be missing out on the social life from the six-pack so I'd like to know the social private dorms. I've heard things that private dorms aren't really social but I'd like to know the ones that give the closest experience to a social one. Which private dorms also have the most freshmen? I'd really like nice rooms as well. Presby's seemed very nice from the video on their website.

I'm also finding it hard to find some solid descriptions of these dorms. I went to Presby's site and I really liked the rooms. Like a lot. And I checked Illini Towers and I didn't really like the room much (maybe an outdated picture) but the features it had were very new and modern which I really liked as well (like a new theater and stuff). So yea I'm liking IT and Pres, but does anyone know if they fit what I'm looking for? If not, any suggestions? Has to be close to Champaign.

I'm an incoming freshman so I wouldn't really know much about the housing in UIUC, so someone please help me out! I'd really like to apply as soon as possible!

I’m an incoming freshman this year and was in the exact same situation. I am choosing to live in Bromley Hall. I’m living in a triple which costs $9,600, about the same as University Housing. I heard its the most social of the PCH dorms, and when I visited, I absolutely loved it. The lobby is great, fireplace and pool tables, it has a swimming pool, and the rooms were very spacey. The website claims to have the largest rooms on campus. The triple room I am going to live in is huge! I think they have a lot of pictures on their website, bromleyhall . com so check it out. I don’t go to the school, but if you have any other questions I can try to answer them based on what I was told on my tour of bromley hall.

If you want a good study environment, live in ISR.ISR is generally quiet if you aren’t in the lounge and there is a quiet study room in the basement if people on your floor.

It is really hard to meet people in private certified housing. My friend lives in Illini Tower and he barely knows anyone on his floor, while I live in ISR and I know people on my floor. Unless you live in Hendrick house, you will be stuck with a meal plan that only allows you to eat in their cafeteria. You will get sick of eating the same food over and over again. I decided to eat at IT with my friend one day because I was tired of ISR food, but the food was terrible. On the other hand, people from other dorms often eat at ISR, especially for lunch, so it is easy to meet people, and you can also go to other dorms to eat.

Thanks for the input guys.
I’m also wondering about the opportunities as an incoming freshmen to socialize and meet other freshmen.

Because PCHousing isn’t really owned by UIUC and instead owned by sort of independent property owners, does the housing still operate like University Housing? Are there many freshmen in these dorms or will I be found with only a handful of freshmen to socialize with cause I know many upperclassmen like private housing and a majority of the freshmen are in university housing.
