So did anyone actually get their first choice?

My daughter did, but that was mainly due to her joining a TLC at Reid. She got the exact room she wanted as well.

I still have friends working in housing that were talking about it being crazy this year. Apparently only the really early (compared to previous years anyway) contracts got their exact wishes. Where is everyone ending up this year? There are several buildings out there that I once lived in or managed that I may be able to ease fears about .

My son and his friend were able to get into Maple Hill South but on the first floor. I’m wondering if that is going to be a problem with possible noise from the store and common areas. They are right by the stairs!

McKinneymomma,
South is my favorite building of the Maple complex. There isn’t an issue with noise from the store that I’m aware of (I used to live directly above that little convenience/ice cream store, never heard a sound, nor did I receive any complaints about noise from people staying in those first floor rooms), the common areas are a little noisy between classes with people coming and going (but it should be pretty brief), and there’s a door at the front lobby that helps cut down on that noise traveling down the hallway too. Stairs you’ll have some noise from now and then, but it wasn’t too bad in the other buildings I lived in when I was right next to the stairs so I doubt it will bother them much at all. On the plus side, moving into the first floor is really easy, right :)? I’m sorry your son didn’t get his first pick, but I bet he’ll be happy with his room overall, and I wish you guys a smooth and easy move-in!

Thanks Matt. He was really excited about getting into Maple Hill. Now I’m wondering about 4 males sharing one bathroom…is there a student cleaning service that they can hire? :)

Haha, I bet he was, it’s a nice complex! That bathroom concern is a legitimate one, I’ve seen some of those places before housekeeping got them ready for us in the summer. I’m actually not sure if they have or allow a cleaning service of any sort in the building due to the way building access and security is set up, but I wouldn’t hesitate to call Housing and ask their stance on that if it’s something you think they might really need. I can’t remember if I ever heard of anyone using a service or not while I was there, honestly. I always advised the future suitemates to set up a cleaning schedule and general cleanliness rules when signing their roommate agreements at the beginning of the year so everyone feels responsible for keeping the bathroom from turning into an uninhabitable wasteland :D.
