I’ll try to do a quick run-down of all of them.

ODB: for the most part it has huge rooms, close to the center of campus (a huge plus), lots of olde reed charm. I lived there this past year and really the only drawback was the lack of a full kitchen, but it’s easy to have friends let you into their dorms with nicer kitchens. I had great relationships with everyone in my hall and really enjoyed my living space.

Cross Canyons (Griffin, McKinley, Woodbridge, Chittick): as of next year, Woodbridge is joining Griffin and McKinley in housing Tir Na Nog, the sci-fi dorm. They have kick-ass balconies and common rooms and good communities (especially if you’re part of Tir Na Nog) but I have heard the rooms are kinda ****ty (never seen them myself)

Grove: To answer your question, I think most of the doubles in the Grove are like half divided, in that a wall separates each person’s private space. The entire dorms are really nice (almost hotel-esque), especially the bathrooms and kitchens. Drawbacks are that they’re kind of a walk from the main part of campus (but it’s Reed so everything’s really close compared to other campuses) and they’re rumored to not have great communities. I mean, this can happen with any dorm though and if you are in the Grove and find your fellow dormies on the Facebook group to start making friends early, you’ll have a great time.

Foster/Sholz/MacNaughton: oh the asylum block… Most Reedies when asked about the worst dorms on campus will say these ones with pretty good reason- the rooms are tiny, the hallways are weirdly lit/narrow and the common rooms can get gross really fast. At the same time, everyone hangs out in the common rooms and FSM tends to develop some of the best communities for that reason. And to be honest, they’re not THAT bad. The worst dorms at Reed are on par with normal dorms at other schools.

Naito and Sullivan: they’re really nice (kind of like hotels, much like the Grove). They are pretty far away from everything, also like the Grove, which I consider a negative but it’s really not that big of a deal. The singles tend to be pretty small, but manageable and chances are, you won’t be put in one. Also, Naito’s first floor common room has a ping pong table and a fooze ball table, which rocks.

Hope that was helpful! I hope I didn’t forget any dorms… XD
