Reed Dorm Choice

I was wondering if a Reedie would give me advice on the choice of a dorm for this fall. First of all: I know they want you to have a divided double during freshman year, but can freshmen get singles? I know that the RCAs are generally for upperclassmen, but can freshmen apply for them? Am I nerdy enough for Tir Na Nog? Are 'the Grove' houses really sterile and condo-y as I've been told? I want to be someplace I like, with a modicum of privacy. I don't think I would want to live in ODB, but Anna Mann looks pretty good. I really don't want to live in Bragdon or the cross-canyon prefabs (Chittick, Woodridge, Grifin, McKinley). I think I went to a party at Naito & Sullivan (The ones with the balconies that face the canyon), and I liked them. Can first-years live in the Canyon, Garden, or Farm houses? Are those the theme dorms?

Right now I'm thinking I want to be in N&S, The Grove, or Anna Mann. I prospied, but I still know pretty little about places like Foster, Schulz & McNaughton. I know that I don't want to be at Bragdon or the Cross-canyons. Otherwise, I'm stumped.

Charras! Go to Facebook! Go to Livejournal! Admitted Reedies don’t usually hang around CC, but you will find lively discussions about dorms on FB in the Reed communities there. I promise! They’re waiting for you!

PS: For informational purposes, my son was Winch, Doyle, Quiet floor in some dorm I never saw, and this fall he’ll be back in Winch.

My daughter was in Chittick freshman year- kinda dark but nice size for a dorm and they got along great( she has always had singles)

Steele for two years , because that was where her friends from Chittick were( i guess they are N & S?). and the Birchwoods for senior year>
