Dorms?

I’m thinking about going to OSU. I seen a two person dorm and its too small. I’m not sure what type of room to get. I love being around people though. I don’t know what building to choose either? I have to have AC in my dorm, I heard some don’t have it, but that is one need for me

One other thing, I was told theres parking off campus I can use for my car, since I’m not aloud having one on campus. Anyone know any places? My family and friends will be a hour and a half away, I will not be stuck there with no car.

Off campus parking is very difficult, I can’t answer that question. My daughter is in Smith Steeb which was just renovated, has A/C and she is in the connector where the 2 person rooms are bigger.

Hi MsKatelynnMarie,

To answer your question about dorms, your best bet (size wise) is going to be Lincoln/Morrill Tower or Smith Steeb/Park Stradley. The dorms on south are for the most part doubles, but they are all basically small. Smith Steeb and Park Stradley are a bit bigger, but they can get very crazy on the weekends. The nice thing about these two is that they are on south campus, close to High Street, and have nice closet/organizers built into the wall. Lincoln or Morrill Tower are also a good bet as they are a suite style. Basically, 10 people share a living room, a nice sized bathroom (4 sinks, 3 toilets, and two showers), and there are three doubles and one quad. The bedrooms have a sleeping area (very roomy if its a double) and a separate office space with desks and shelves. I live in Morrill personally and I love it. I’m in a quad and I have plenty of room, unlike my friends who live in quads on north campus and even my friends in doubles on south campus. Your suitemates become your best friends and the atmosphere is great. The separation of rooms is nice too, especially when a roommate or suitemate might be irritating. The only downside is that west campus is a bit isolated, but overall it’s a great place to live.

As far as parking goes, don’t bring a car. Often times overnight parking off-campus (unless you have a permit or permission) leads to cars getting towed. It has happened to plenty of people I know and it becomes very expensive. The COTA buses are very accessible and can take you anywhere in the Columbus area. Anyways, I do not recommend going home until Veteran’s Day weekend because there is a lot to do on the weekends and it helps strengthens friendships.

Hope this helped!

I second the motion on not bringing your car. You won’t need it your freshman year and you will get parking tickets.
