Dorms

how are they?

well I visited the campus in late December and took the tour. They were still closed but the guide told me that the first year dorms are a bit small. There are language houses and other specialty things, like the vegan dorm underneath the stadium ;-). A lot of students live outside the campus in the nearby neighborhood when they become upper classmen. The neighborhood is beautiful, a few blocks from the state capitol. The river is close by too.
hope that helps

some of the dorms are quite nice, some kinda suck. I'm a freshman, and I'm in a single, which is nice.....on the other hand, its quite tiny. The upperclassman dorms have been recently renovated, and rooms in 2/3 of the freshman dorms have sinks (which is really really nice). Overally, they're no better than average, but certainly no worse.

is there any real trouble with the fact that the schoo cant promise everyone a dorm for all four years?

when I was there the tour guide spoke about how some juniors and seniors have problems. However because the surrounding area is pretty residential, It shouldnt be too difficult to find somewhere to live if you have any motivation.

its not hard to find housing; on the other hand, it is hard to find cheap housing. I'd guess 350 a month on the lower end of the spectrum, ranging through about 1300 a month, depending on size, number of roommates, etc. As long as you're prepared for the expense, and look early, its really not an issue.

100% of first and second years are guaranteed housing. For all students, 66% live in campus housing. Any stats for the percentage of juniors and seniors who live in Mac housing?

Can you stay in Mac housing if you are on top of things at room draw time – is there enough housing for the upperclassmen who want to live on campus?
