Ok, does anyone no what the rules are on dorms…do you have any say in choosing someone to room with you? Also which dorm are you all going to request?

yea, actually you can chose your roomate if you meet someone at orientation and if you wanna room with them they let you chose your roomate. The dorm that you get is just a chance of luck. You might get what you request, but then you might not.

I'm confused about the different campuses... Whats the difference between the Newton and Chestnut Hill? Whats on each? Which one is better?

they are mainly just two dorm seperated by 10 minutes.....newton has more of a community feel....upper is on the campus where most classes will take place, you are there with all upperclassmen....i think im gonna request newton, but im not sure, anyone have any opinions??

i'll explain why later, but i'm going to choose newton... if you request newton it's almost definite that you'll end up there

Students say that Newton food is better, as well

i remember when an admissions officer came to our school discussing the two dorms, students end up happy wherever they stay, because each dorm has their pros. but dorming doesn't seem to be a main concern to BC students.

As a freshman you are pretty much at the bottom of the selection process. Upper is where most of the Frosh live not lower. It is a walk to the library etc., but exercise is good to avoid the frosh 15lbs. Last year there were a lot of forced doubles --3 people in a double room. Very tight. My son got lucky---he loves his roomates and they all refused to be split when an opening came up. Neuton is a bus ride away, but only double rooms. More space and their own cafe. Kids like Neuton, but the bus to main camus can be a hassle, especially in the snow etc. Good luck!
Ps this year they were lucky in the lottery and pulled an 8 person suite on lower.

My daughter, who is now a Junior, dormed at Newton. My son, who was admitted EA, will also be going, but my daughter advised him to try for Upper. She made great friends at Newton, but she said waiting for the bus and the bus ride in sometimes heavy traffic was a pain.
