dorms

what are the best dorms to stay at?
does anyone know anything about the townhouse dorms?

I think it depends on you. I know a lot of people say Donlon is the most social dorm, but i know a lot of people who like mews and court. There are also program houses, which seem interesting.

Unless you choose an all-woman's dorm or a theme house, you don't get to choose your dorm. It is assigned pretty randomly. We advised our daughter to go for Balch, the all woman's dorm, and she enjoys it. The logic was it was a known quantity that is quiet yet social, the most convenient location and good sized rooms. She even has her own private bathroom for her double, though that is unusual. The rest of the dorms are luck of the draw.

I am not sure the best one but court resort and mews are BEAUTIFUL. I lived in one my freshman year, and it was awesome.

sandpit...you can choose to live in the townhouses. if you list them as your first choice, you're highlyyy likely to get them because most people don't choose the townhouses. the townhouses are extremely nice. they were originally built as grad student housing, so they're like living in your own house- kitchen, living room, bathroom, 2 bedrooms. the townhouses are 4 people to a house. they're amazing....but the downside is that if you don't know your housemates you could end up in a realllly bad situation if you don't get along with them. you also have to make a little more of an effort to meet people since you aren't in a big dorm, but the people i know in townhouses have a lot of friends.
