Double Major at UCLA?

Does UCLA let people double major or is that a no no? If I do get in (by the grace of the UCLA Gods), I want to see how to go about this.

I transferred to UCLA last year as a History Major, but had also done the reqs. for Anthro, so so long as you’ve done the nessecary reqs. you should be good. However, it also depends on your major and whether you can finish in 2yrs since it may require staying an additional year to double major.

Oh ok. So you just really take the classes but you only are under your History major? Correct or am I stupidly missing something? lol

Well you would talk to your departments undergrad advisor preferably before fall qtr. begins and at the latest during your first qtr. here. At that time you would let them know that you want to double major and work with them to set up a plan to help you do so. Basically by double majoring you will have almost no elective classes.

Earell92 is correct. By double majoring, the classes of your alternative major would count as elective classes needed for one of the majors, and vice versa. Double majoring is not difficult to do. Once you get into the school with the particular major they accepted you with, you go ahead and talk with the department counselor of the second major you’re interested in. Like earell02 said, they help you plan out the classes needed for the major and help you plan out a schedule that includes all the necessary classes to complete the major in tandem with the other one. Expect to lose your summers. Additionally, if you do get in, I highly advise you to enroll in summer classes before the first official quarter begins for you (which would be Fall). You’ll need any head start you can get if you plan on finishing in 2 years. Oh, and you might want to consider taking 4 classes per quarter down the line. It’ll be hectic, but rewarding, and you’ll get to participate in 3 commencements once your graduate, if you care about that sort of thing. One commencement for each major, and the general commencement for the graduating class of a particular year.
