I want to double major in Computer Science and Actuarial Science
Is this possible since one is in Engineering and the other is in Natural Sciences?
I think I remember reading somewhere saying that it might be possible, but it means I'll need to take up more credits since they're from different schools. Could I do this within 4 years? By the time I enter college, I'll have AP credits which will exempt me from a lot classes for Actuarial Science: AP Chem (4), Physics C, Bio, Macro(4), Micro, Calc AB (4), Calc BC. The ones without parentheses indicate that I'm taking them my senior and I'm assuming I can get at least a 4 on them.

Yes, you can do it. Some double majors require extra classes, some don’t. You need to talk to advisors in both majors :). You should be able to do it in 4 years, too.

For double major, MSU requires > total 150 credits. Our experience, started as a sophmore (due to AP) and dual major couldnt be done in 4 years. 1) They didnt allow dual dipping on classes so if one department used AP credit for history general ed, the other department couldnt use it. It was all very confusing and frustrating to do. (It was a BA, for one major and BS for the other). Did it in 4.5 years (paying upper class credit rate from year 2).

Msu doesn’t require 150 credits for a double major, they require 150 for a double degree (BA and BS). If it’s two BA majors, or two BS majors, it’s 120 credits.

And some majors do allow double dipping. It depends on the major. I’m completing a BA and BS and a minor in four years with credits to spare.
