i plan on attending university of south carolina and majoring in both social work and psychology and minoring in criminology and sociology, i figure it wouldnt be too difficult because they are closely related.

do you think this is a goos idea or no? any suggestions?

Seems interesting. What do you plan on career wise?

A double major doesn’t really mean much in the job market, especially if the majors have a lot of overlap. If they are in two very different areas, and having skills/knowledge of those two different areas for a particular job would be beneficial, then it could help, but most of the time this won’t be the case. Ultimately, a double major won’t hurt you and usually won’t help you. If there’s a lot of overlap and you wouldn’t have to spend additional time at school for it, you might as well double major if you want to.

Minors are generally not useful. They can show some proficiency in areas unrelated to your major, but if the minors are in an area closely related to your major, it’s pretty useless.

Moreover, remember that you don’t need to major/minor in every little thing that interests you. You can just take courses in the areas that interest you.

i want to be a social worker, but i dont want to be poor. i think my best bet would just to become a psychologist, not a psychiatrist because i’d rather not go to med school.
