I'm interested in pursuing a double major in some type of bio (MCB, psychobio, etc) and also some type of econ (econ-biz, econ). How realistic would that be in terms of workload??????

I've heard alot of stories saying that double major basically = suicide, however, I'm really interested in the two subjects and I'm torn to what I should major in. I also have a bunch of CC classes as well as 10 AP credits that I would transfer over when I enroll next fall, so maybe this would give sophomore status and I could possibly do both majors in 4 years??

I have no idea......can anybody with experience advise me?? Or if anyone's majoring/planning to major in any of the subjects, how hard is it, etc, etc???

It's possible, but I seriously doubt you'll be able to finish in 4 years. Mostly because the two majors have totally different requirements, like the classes you'll have to take and such. Most people who double major do so with two majors that have somewhat similar requirements, with classes that satisfy both majors.

ok im going to guess that your premed. so im going to ask you, do you want to go into business (i-banking, accounting...) or medicine. If you just have an interest in business, then major in business ONLY. you could do premed on the side and get all the lower div science classes done. There is no real point in majoring in both. oh yeah, and you need to keep a high gpa for getting into med school AND for getting into the bizecon major. majoring in both a biology-type major and bizecon will severely hurt you gpa. so in your goal to do both, you may not get to do either.

yeah im definitely considering going med, but as of right now, im still not completely sure...maybe i'll go med school or grad school or neither...

basically, im just really interested in the two subjects, and torn between choosing a major, but yeah i definitely understand taht it'll be more time and most likely hurt my gpa..

if i was to major in biz-econ or econ only, would going to Cal be better for that? I got into both schools so I'm considering both too =T

any advice?

You can use your first quarter to decide what suits you better- take econ1 and LS1/chem... maybe you'll find out that you don't like one of them.

if you are unsure, Cal would actually be better to find yourself there. The business program is indeed better for just business.

oh yea, i frgot to mention, bizecon + premed is really tough. most people who just do one of the two find themselves weeded out, so you can imagine how tough both would be. im sure its been done, but i wouldn't recommend it.

major in economics (alone) if you are that interested in it and do premed classes on the side.

yeah im thinking along the same lines. im definitely going to med but i also want to explore a bit into business/econ because im interested. also, it could be a safety net if my med course falls apart. however i do not plan to double major. anyone have any minor recommendations? im not fully aware of what kind of business/finance minors they have at LA.

you can do business econ major with an accounting minor... I think just about every bizecon major here has one.
