Double major nursing and biology?

I’ve been seriously considering a major in nursing, but I would also like to possibly double major in biology (with a focus in microbiology and infectious diseases), and then get some sort of PhD in biology. I am planning to attend the University of Texas at Austin.

Is this even possible? Should I pick one or the other or could I follow both dreams?

I think that at most schools it is extremely difficult to double major with nursing. That being said, however, there are certainly places in research for nurses! In fact, there are even doctoral (PhD) programs for nursing.
