Double major nursing and biology?

I’ve been seriously considering a major in nursing, but I would also like to possibly double major in biology (with a focus in microbiology and infectious diseases), and then get some sort of PhD in biology. I am planning to attend the University of Texas at Austin.

Is this even possible? Should I pick one or the other or could I follow both dreams?

Within 4 years, you will probably not have enough flexibility with a BSN degree to have a second major. However, you could choose to use some of your electives to take extra bio classes. You may be eligible for a bio minor. If you have AP credit or are willing to take summer classes, you would have more flexibility.
