Double Major or Change Major?

Hello all this is my first post on the forum. Here is my situation:

I am currently a senior pursuing a degree in Construction Engineering Technology. I only need 10 more classes until I graduate which I will graduate in May 2017. It wasn’t until a couple weeks ago that I realized I have been miserable in this major. The past year I have taken 2 accounting classes and 2 Finance classes and love them both. Since I only need 10 more classes to get my Bachelor Degree in Construction Engineering Technology I think it is too late to change it. I am now thinking about graduating in this and stay at the university for 1 more year and get my Bachelor Degree in Finance also. Maybe look into the Real Estate Corporate life and with these 2 degrees I think I will be set.

Could you guys give me any advice? That would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You might also consider finishing that degree and doing a one year masters in accounting. You’d probably need to pick up a few more accounting classes along the way.

Good luck!

Another option would be to finish your engineering degree, work as an engineer for a 2-3 years and go back for a MBA.

10 classes is still a lot for something you hate if you don’t think you want to use it after college.

If you really like finance/ accounting, I would suggest just finish up your engineering degree. You would need many pre reqs to qualify for those major finance/accounting classes. If you truly hate your job then go back to complete a masters in accounting and sit for the CPA (or work for a firm, etc) or masters in finance and sit for the CFA (or work). Switching fields now would be a waste of money and time you have already invested in engineering. You literally only have 2 semesters left (excluding a summer semester). I would just keep it and then go back for masters if you truly don’t like your job.
