Double Major or Minor?

Hello all!

I need some guidance as I have been trying to figure out what to do for over a month now and still have no idea. I tried researching and still couldn’t find anything. I am a transfer coming in from Fullerton College and I majored in both Psychology and Anthropology. I loved both fields and everything we talked about which was why I went to go for the B.S. degree in Human Development at UC Davis. After further research, I found out that with just an extra semester or two I can do a double major or even a minor if I choose. I want to ask those of you who are in medical school, going to medical school, or just in general: does it look better to double major in B.S. Human Development and A.B. Psychology? Or would it be more useful for me to Major in B.S. Human Development and minor in human physiology? I would love either field because both are very close to my interests. I was going to try to do a double major and a minor, but my advisor says I might go out my 225 credit limit so if that turns out to be true I would need to pick one or the other. If anyone has any suggestions, advise, or guidance on what I should do that would be great. Thank you!

You might post this in the pre-med forum (http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/pre-med-medical-school/) and receive a different answer but my opinion is that majors and minors don’t matter as long as pre-req courses are fulfilled and top grades are earned.

I concur with @lkg4answers. A double major or major with minor will not give an extra bump for Medical school. Your GPA, MCAT scores and Medically related EC’s along with completing the required Medical school course work will make you a competitive applicant.
