I’m a CCC student looking to transfer to UC Berkeley as an Environmental Policy and Management major, but I’m also interested in double majoring in Political Science as well. What is the process for declaring a double-major across different schools at Berkeley as a transfer like? Is it possible? Do I need to complete any of the Poli-Sci pre-requisites at my community college on top of the Environmental Policy and Management ones in order for me to do so?
possible, but a bit tricky. You would have to do simultaneous degrees rather than double majoring, which has the disadvantage of satisfying 2 schools’ requirements.
Yes you would need to be in a position to declare by the end of your first semester for both majors.
@ProfessorPlum168 Is it possible to declare a double major at the end of my/her/his second semester? I was planning to do something similar CS/Applied Math.
I’m not sure how that works if you don’t declare by the end of your first semester. I do know that it’s very difficult to declare for CS within the first semester being that you have 3 classes minimum to take before declaring, or which at least 2 most transfer students would not have taken.
It depends on the policies of the department with respect to declaring the major (typically based on prerequisite completion). Check their websites.
If do two majors across different divisions (e.g. CNR and L&S), you need to complete general education requirements for both (though they may overlap).
