Hiya! I was wondering if anybody here knows if there is a double major in foreign language and arts at UCI? After I graduated from HS, I was planning ahead to transfer to UCI after my 2 years at a community college. Originally, my major was going to be Japanese literature until I was 10 units short. So then I thought, why not do some art classes? Since I’ve enjoyed art for a long time, I thought why not major in arts too? So I went ahead and went on assist.org from more info on the requirements on Japanese as well as arts. Then I further went into planning until I talked to my counselor who told me I should check in with UCI if they have a double major for it. So I tried looking through the internet. However, there’s barely any info on double majoring at their web. Not to mention, I called them a few times if I could speak to their advisers about double majoring and yet I get no answers after the first call. Anyways, I would be appreciated if someone could answer this question
UCI used to have a Humanities and Arts major that allowed students to customize a certain number of classes in an area of the arts and at the same time have a humanities focus. But that major was discontinued a few years ago. I think you would have to double major unless you want to do one major and then just take classes in the other. At UCI Humanities and Arts are two separate schools, and you would need to make sure you are meeting all requirements for both schools to do a double major. It can be done, but you have to plan it and should plan on discussing it with counselors at orientation.
