Hello everyone! I am currently a UC transfer applicant for Fall 2019 and planning to pursue my studies in the Japanese Language. I have a couple questions in regards to my chances of getting admitted to either UCLA or UCI for this major. Is it true that non-impacted majors like mine could increase my chances of gaining admissions to these universities? If not, what are the likely chances with my academics? Also is the School of Letters and Sciences from these universities competitive or not?
For my academics:
GPA: 3.61
So far, I haven’t done much curricular activities for my major besides Japanese tutoring for one semester and study abroad in Japan for a couple months. Recently, I have passed my Japanese Proficiency Test (N4) in February (Sadly, I wish I could put it in my UC application to put more emphasis in my major background)
As for my UC prerequisites:
For UCI, I have done all the prerequisites for Japanese Language and Literature which was displayed on assist.org. However, there is no UC prerequisites from my cc (LAPC) to UCLA. Will this affect my admission to UCLA? Despite I have done four semesters of Japanese and shown my background for my major in the UC application? Overall, I have applied to eight different (UC/CSU) schools and got accepted to CSUN, CSULB, SFSU, and UCSB. I am really curious to see if I could get admitted to UCLA or UCI for this particular major if possible.
If someone can answer these questions, I will appreciate it!
