double-majoring. is this crazy?

is it crazy to double-major as a transfer student? how about double-majoring and a minor? is that even possible? silly questions, i know. but what do you guys think?

No, it's not silly to double major as a transfer student. I plan to do that. I plan to transfer in as a junior and spend 3 years at where I get in.

one of my classmates is triple-majoring... working towards transfering to Stanford. crazy honors institute kids!! I plan on double majoring if I dont get into the school of my choice in Fall '06 by spending an additional year at CC.

I was wondering the same thing. I plan to double major, and I'm interested in adding a minor, but I don't know how that plays out for transfer students. I know that some schools (Berkeley, for instance) don't like transfer students to stay more than 2 years. I think Berkeley has some cap on the total number of years you can have been in college, so if you took more than 2 years at a CC you only have 2 years to spend there...

i don't understand why the hell do they care how long we stay...its more money for them....

will i UC (or other schools...) preffer i not spend 3 years at a CC? i've never heard of that before.

They prefer you stay only 4 semesters to demonstrate that you are ready to transfer and get your degree in a timely fashion. However, under the circumstances of double majoring and the such they're looking for you to finish your community college work in a reasonable time given your course-load, not necessarily a set time limit.

That makes sense, however, I don't see why some schools won't let you take 3 years after you transfer, given a reasonable course load and progress towards a degree, as in the case of double majors.

Either that or graduate and then apply for a second bach degree. I suppose that you could do that. Like, fei said, I don't understand why they'd care either. Their getting more money off you for it.

I'm with clig...junior xfer, going to be there 3 years, double major in phil/psyc and do pre-med.
