Probably true, but it's much more rare to get a double major in two different schools. I was just trying to cover my bases for future questions like FordGT's where they were wondering if it was possible for a dual degree within LSA.

Out of curiosity only, is it technically impossible to triple major in four years if you 1) never use transfer or AP credits and 2) never take over 18 credits in a semester?

I think it's essentially impossible, because majors generally have a requirement of about 30 credits in that subject, and I don't think it includes cognates or prereqs or things like that. So that means you have at least 90 credits for majors, plus 30 credits of distribution, plus language requirement. I'm sure there's some way to make everything overlap nicely...but it's not realistic, and anybody who's driven to do that much work will almost certainly have taken AP classes/college classes ahead of time.

As far as double majoring in LSA...there are definitely ways to make it work. Thanks to tons of AP classes, dual enrolling, etc, I'm going to have my honors math major after a year and a half, I should have all my LSA requirements met after two years, and I could probably cram the remaining physics classes in my third year if I really wanted to. I figure it's best to just stay all four years and take damn near every graduate math class we have to offer than to rush things.

Also, the general policy as far as enrolling in two schools is that each respective school really only cares that you're enrolled in their program, and that you meet all of their requirements.

well, I'm in engineering and had planned to also major in philosophy. If you come in with enough AP credits, you can pull it off in four years. Technically, I could complete my engin/philo major in 4 years, but it would mean only engin/philo courses each sem with 16-18 credits.

Engin has many requirements, usually at least 12-14 courses in the engineering school, plus math/sci prereq's, tech electives, and advanced science credits. And for LSA, u also need race/ethnicity, language, etc. If u passed out of language, completed half of calc/science, and have HU/SS and free electives taken care of by other AP's, then the double major is def possible in 4 years.
