Ok so my college search has been rather haphazard and i landed on MSU sorta by default so i dont know much about the college... I have a couple questions about the education regulations/routes at MSU and any help/advice will be greatly appreciated!
1. How hard is it to double major on pseudo- related fields of study? i.e. Astrophysics and Mathematics
2. What is study abroad like...what i mean is if i go to Germany to learn the language and the culture can i also take classes in English that relate and count for credit towards graduating from MSU?
3. Can i graduate in 2-3 years?... I'm entering with approximately 40-45 credits earned from AP scores... I also plan to take summer courses after freshman year... I love to learn and am Valedictorian of my high school class so workload isn't a deterrence for me

Also, I just recently applied to the school so i don't/won't have a guidance member for a while...thats why I'm asking you guys :D

Thanks for any help you may be able to provide!

Depends on the field, how much credit you’re coming in with, what type of credit you come in with, how many credits you take per semester, whether or not you want to graduate on time, and whether or not you change your majors. In general, not too difficult.

In general, yes. I highly recommend trying to find a program where you can get credit in your major if you study abroad.

Depends on how well you plan, whether or not you go year round, etc. Don’t be arrogant though, you don’t know that the workload won’t be a “detterence” for you. You have absolutely no idea what the courseload will be like. Btw- it’s deterrence.

I recommend degnav.msu.edu to try to help you plan courses to see whether or not you can graduate in 3 years. No, you can’t graduate in 2 unless you go full time year round and you probably won’t be able to study abroad.

Fwiw- I started with about 40 credits. I am graduating in 4 years with a BA in Residential College in the Arts and the Humanities and a BS in anthropology. I also studied abroad for a summer.

exactly what romani said. Other things I’d add:
-I’ve found double majoring is super easy if they are in related fields/within the same college. I have two degrees in international relations and economics and 2 specializations and am finishing in 4 years easily (came in with 20 AP credits, studied abroad, took 2 summer classes, etc. If I wanted to, I could’ve probably graduated in just 3 years but I like school too much to leave early. Double majoring even in completely different colleges (i.e. civil engineering and philosophy, supply chain management and international relations) is doable in 4 years if you come in with AP/college credits.
-Don’t choose to graduate in 2 years, even if it is possible. 3 years is plenty early. Once you are here you likely won’t want to leave - college is great! Instead, spend your summer (and school year) interning, working, and conducting research in your field of study. That way you can have constant academic stimulation but also have a sweet resume by the time you graduate and maybe even have some extra money saved up on the side.
-There are so many study abroad programs available at MSU that you can find one that fits you. Whether you would prefer to take gen ed courses abroad, courses in your major, courses in another language, or internship/work abroad anything is really possible. If it is an MSU sponsored program all credits that you take can go towards your degree.
