Would double majoring in biology and environmental engineering and a minor in maybe political science make it difficult to get into med school and study for the MCAT?
Would it make it difficult to get into med school? Not if you taken all the necessary pre-reqs and can maintain an excellent GPA.
But…
—if you’re really asking if having a double major and minor will better prepare for the MCAT than just a bio major, the answer is no.
—if you’re really asking if med school admissions officers will be impressed by your combination of majors and minors or whether the combo will give an advantage when applying to med school, the answer is no.
You need to also consider that having multiple majors/minors may make it harder to schedule all your required pre-req classes and you may need to delay your med school application until after you graduate, may make it more difficult to maintain the high GPA needed to be competitive for med school, and may make it difficult to fit in the necessary ECs needed for a successful med school application.
You can do whatever you wish as long as you are capable of maintaining very high college GPA and prepare for MCAT while doing medical ECs. You are the only one who can answer this question. You can utilize approach of “trying and quitting”, which my D. used.
