Double majoring

I have recently decided to major in English and Communications Studies. Is this a bad choice? I was also thinking of minoring in something on the side due to after all the work I do I still have a lot of free time on my hands. Can I get some words of advice from some students who have decided to double major at this college/university?

(You never specified the college or university.)
Whether double majoring in two specific majors is the best option may depend upon your career plans. But it is done frequently.

I meant to not put on my university but to receive input from those at any university. I am doubling majoring to increase my list of career opportunities and to take more classes that interest me.

But you asked “who have decided to double major at THIS college/university”.

I think that it is smart to double major in order to increase job opportunities.

First of all, having a lot of free time isn’t necessarily a bad thing. You can use that free time to join extracurricular activities, pick up a part-time job, pursue individual interests or hobbies, or just enjoy time with friends. You don’t have to fill/schedule every minute of your days

If you like English and communication studies and are doing well, it’s not a bad choice.

You don’t need to double major, if you don’t want to. You also don’t need to minor. But if you want to, you can pick something that’s interesting to you and that enhances your marketability/skillset/knowledge in some complementary area of interest. There are lots of things that could be good minors, so it really just depends on your interests and career goals.
