<p>I read in the brochure that they sent me that it is very possible to double major with a BFA in Musical Theatre and something else. Is that true?</p>
<p>Yes, it is, and many students do- but it is a lot of work!</p>
<p>It's true, but like BreatheEasy said, it's tough. Let's say that you're dual majoring in musical theatre and a BA program in the LSA (College of Literature, Science, and the Arts). The BFA requires about 70-80 credits in musical theatre coursework within the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance. While the BA may only require around 30 credits of coursework within its field, you also have to fulfill all of the LSA requirements, including 100 credits in the LSA. So, that means you would need at least 170 credits to graduate, instead of the normal 120. Assuming you enter freshman year with no credits and take 18 credits every semester, you'd still have to do a couple spring/summer terms in order to graduate in four years. It's challenging, but most people are glad they did it.</p>
<p>I am not sure if this applies to MT. D is a music double major. For required music ensembles, it matters how many semesters you take, not how many credits you will have by graduation. For an ensemble that is normally 2 credits, she can take it as 0 or 1 credit so that she does not have to pay extra for over 18 credits limit.</p>
