As an MT major can you double minor? I am interested in minoring in Dance and Theatre Education.
The hard part about minoring is that you only really have 2 days a week you can take non BFA classes. BUT- if you were able to do J term or summer classes you might be able to get it done
My student is a Junior in NSB. Student is actually double-majoring. It is definitely possible with creative scheduling from your counselor. My student has taken some additional classes on studio days because you do have some (very few) breaks. This did mean, however, that my student had some studio classes with one group and some with another. By this I mean that each new class of students is broken down into groups by color. So there are: red, blue, green, and yellow groups. You move through studio training in that group. My student did not move through studio in that traditional way. Student has taken studio classes with different groups to allow the flexibility to take classes towards double major. Student also, did study one summer, taking 2 classes towards the Second major. All of this said, sophomore and junior year have been EXTREMELY stressful and difficult. Student basically goes to class and studies. Perhaps going out late late on weekend nights. That’s it. Student typically studies all day Saturday and Sunday, is up past midnight many, many week nites studying. Student has even taken one class in her second major and skipped the accompanying recitation to fit everything in. That made it all the more difficult, because then student needed to find time to get office hours to get help, etc. So, yes anything is possible. A lot depends on the dedication of the student, and the amount of stress they can handle. I should add that my student also takes an additional piano class through Steinhart, and that Student also had 8 hours of AP credit towards second major.
