How hard is it to double or triple major in a lot of different things at Cornell? I’m really interested in studying engineering and biochemistry/computational biology and then also studying visual arts and drawing/painting, and also maybe lit.
Will it be hard to major/minor in some or all of these things at Cornell, considering that they’re in three separate schools? How can I try to manage this?
You can only double major within the same college. However, you may do dual degree across colleges, but that requires you to fulfill distribution requirements of both colleges. You can freely minor across schools. Doubling within the same college is very easy.
It’s much easier to just stick with a double/triple within your own college. Consider doubling whatever two you’re most interested in and just add a minor in the third, i.e. visual arts/drawing. Triple major, without much overlap, is much much more demanding.
Double majoring across colleges is very difficult unless one of them is in A&S - it seems that you would be doing Engineering and AAP. A friend of mine who was trying to major across AAP and CALS was not accepted for the double major even though she had finished the entire core for the CALS major (the one she was adding) at the time of her application. If you really want to, you will have to do 5 years.
Many people tend to double major in their college (that’s what I did) or do one major and two minors if you really want to.
