I was admitted to Rutgers NB a couple months ago and I received some information in the mail recently about Douglass. I'm a girl, and a full-fledged feminist, so this sounds very enticing. I'm going to be a commuter, so I know I won't get all the benefits, but I've done my research and I'm liking it.

I was wondering if anyone is part of it/likes it/has an opinion on it...anything? Also, does it cost extra/how much?
Thanks:)

Hmmm… “full-fledged feminist”? You’ll like it =)

Seriously though, it was one of the best decisions I made here at Rutgers. I recently joined last semester and I gotta tell you the support, contacts, opportunities and resources that us Douglass girls get here are great!

If you are really into a social cause, they have this leadership scholars program through the “Institute for Women’s Leadership”. It is a 19-credit certification program. There is an application process, and you usually apply to undertake it for your sophomore or junior year:
[Institute for Women’s Leadership - Advancing Women’s Leadership for a Just World](http://iwl.rutgers.edu/programs_lsp.html)

If I’m not mistaken, I think there is a one-year residency requirement, but I’m not sure what the policy is for someone who is commuting. But if you decide to dorm at Douglass for your first year, there are 13 living learning communities for you to choose from if interested: [Rutgers | Douglass Residential College | Current Students | Housing](http://douglass.rutgers.edu/housing2.shtml)

And in terms of cost, I don’t think there is anything additional. I think it is about the same as the School of Arts and Sciences.

I highly suggest you visit Rutgers and attend a session to learn about Douglass!

i’d like to know more about douglass as well. regarding scholarships, just how much do they give you. they said they’re each over $1000, but that’s not very specific…

But can I go to the SAS and be part of Douglass? if that makes any sense lol. I want to be an english teacher so that’s SAS but I’m interested in minoring in something from Douglass because I’m really really interested in it

My daughter is doing the Douglass thing in addition to SEBS (Marine Science), basically it is a few additional requirements & courses that she needs to take. The real payoff is available networking available to you after graduation.

She is in her second semseter and us really enjoying herself. So far she has met a few “Douglass Women” within and outside of school and they have all been willing to help her out.

As I said, the big payoff is after graduation, the networking will help in your chosen career - sort of an “old boys” club for women.
