I was recently admitted to UCI as a Drama major at the Claire Trevor School of the Arts. In January, I saw their production of Angels in America, and was very impressed, although I noticed that many of the students seemed to be grad students. I was wondering if anyone knew much about the Drama major at UCI, like how are classes, what kinds of performance opportunities are there, etc.? I'm also interested in the Film and Media studies major, although I've heard absolutely nothing about it, so if anyone knows about that, then I'd be thankful. Thanks!

The Film major is very theory oriented. After the introductory history of film or broadcasting and recognizing techniques courses, you choose to branch off into screenwriting or film production, but if your interest is acting, there is no outlet for that as a film major. If your interest is direction, then Film might be a better fit for you, but be aware that you will have to take a lot of theory and history of film courses before you get to the film production courses.
