Dream or can it be a reality?

I took the March SAT and here are my scores:

Cr: 590 :(
M: 700 :(
Wr: 650 :(
Essay: 9

Here is my goal for the October SAT:
Cr: 700
M: 800
Wr: 700
Essay: 10+

The reason why there are frowning faces next to my March SAT scores is because I believe I could have done better. I have been doing SAT Math practice tests by the collegeboard and constantly got 760+. I think what I have to do it work on my test taking skills. Does my goal seem reasonable or is it too bold?

I would def say it’s reasonable, you have half a year to study… I took a course in school, 1 hour a day 5 days a week, that basically just helped out with grammar and math for the PSAT. Soph year I got a 178, Junior year I got a 205, so a half year can really help your score.

Math is easy, just make sure you check over ALL of your answers. I got an 800 on my first SAT for the math. Look over what concepts you don’t know, I wouldn’t spend too much time studying for the math though.
Critical Reading would be the hardest but with 6 months you can learn a plethora of vocabulary and practice reading more advanced stuff…
For writing just know all the grammar rules and practice writing more, after 6 months of practice you should be used to the 25-minute limit and the style.

I think you can definitely get above 2100 (and even 2200) if you work hard! Was it your first sitting?

If so, I really know how you feel :)! I got 2080 in Jan, and, altough I was satisfied, I thought I did wayyy better on the practice tests. And then I got 2230 in March. I really don’t know what made my score go up so much. I had studied for like 125 hours to get that 2080, so I figured out I’d have to study my summer out to reach 2200+. I probably studied for a total of 25 hours for the March test because IB didn’t leave me much free time. I just decided to retake to gain more confidence.

I think ultimately your confidence and knowledge of the test will help you a lot! Its definitely less stressful once you know exactly how everything is going to happen, in what order, and how you are likely to react to different situations. You will have so much more energy to spend on the test, I promise!

If your score improves by over 100 pts thanks to confidence and a bit of practice (and, let’s admit it, luck too  ), imagine what a summer of studying could do!

Good luck, and let me know how things are going  !

This was my first sitting. Thanks for your replies strosfan and Perle.

On my first sitting in Jan i got
CR 600
M 610
W 630

In June ,I will be aiming for

M 740
CR 700-740
WR 760

Within these 3 months after January ,I went through the whole Barron`s 3500 mini dictionary.Now SC are piece of cake ,but some of the passeges are still ‘‘sphinx-like’’ :}
I think I improved CR A LOT.I constantly score 680+ on practice tests and still have about 10 Q and S to do before June .

WR is very easy.I dont even know what happened in January.I used to make 4-5 erros on MQ on practice tests, but on the test I made 9 + 9 on essay (I filled both pages, wrote 2 examples but … )On the actual test I wrote my first essay.Never had i written essay in SAT format before.I think I can improve it to 11.

M is the most difficult fo me .I am very goot at school math ;} but hate these tricky questions ,sometimes run out of time (actually, most of the time)
It is not that hard to improve to 700-740 ,but the difference between 740 and 800 is only 3 errors,so I cant dream for more ;[

With some luck,I think I am capable of scoring 2150-2200 .I didnt study much for the Jan test because I didnt care much how will I perform.I only wanted to feel what it is like.

Good luck, and keep working hard ;]6 months are more than enough !

Yes, your goals are reasonable! Get to work! :)
