Improvement Timeline?

Okay guys, Here's my story. Last october, I took the SAT and scored a 1460. This june, I took a practice test and scored an 1800.. I guess it's the effect of school. Now, i've been doing a little bit of practice here and there (not too rigorous) and have jumped up to 1860-1900 zone (I know, i suck). I will be taking the SAT in October. Originally, my goal was to get a 2200 in October. I was foolish and realized it and dropped it down to 2100. Now i feel like i cant even achieve that. So i have decided that my Goal for this October will be somewhere from 1950-2050 (With some serious studying now till October). I will retake somewhere around December (i will be doing studying between though.) For December, My goal should be 2150ish. And then by May or June of next year, i hope to Achieve a 2300. Do you guys think it's possible? I will be studying. What i really should be asking is, is that do you think these goals are realistic? Should I lower the standard or something? My current scores are somewhat like this: CR 620, M: 650, W: 630 which is 1900. Sometimes it's lower, sometimes higher. I use BB by the way. So are my goals realistic?

If we told you, would it matter?

If we told you yes, would you study harder? If we told you no, would you study less?

Up your Math and Writing and you will break 2000 easy. Aim to break 700 in each section so 700 + 700 + 700 = 2100, which should be realistic for you -- although CR may be a little bit tough.

Keep on trucking.

I didn't ask for satisfaction. I asked for whether it's realistic or not. I don't want to feel bad when I can't achieve what I want. So I'd rather have realistic goals than the super reach 2400.

By the way, thanks for the advice. I ll try to up my Writing and Math to 700.

2300 is a super reach as well. Many people consider a 2300 almost equally as a 2350+. Obviously its a little lower, but at that point, one or 2 mistakes is a huge difference. I think your goals of 2050 and then 2150 is fairly realistic, but after you hit that point, any additional improvement is extraordinarily difficult. You can try all you want, but a 99+ percentile score is 99+ percent for a reason.

Think about it this way, your scores currently are about this with an 8 essay:
CR - 17 wrong
M - 13 wrong
W - 12 wrong

To get to the 2100 mark you will need about this with an 8 essay:
CR - 7 wrong
M - 5 wrong
W - 6 wrong

You can only miss 40% of what you are missing now, which is really hard to do, but still within reach I think.

But for a 2300 you need about this much:
CR - 2 wrong
M - 2 wrong
W - 0-1 wrong/8 essay or 2 wrong/10 essay or 3-4 wrong/12 essay

That is only about 12% of what you are missing currently. That means you have to be doing 8-9 times better than you are doing now. As you approach the higher levels, the amount that you can miss is significantly reduced.

i think u should do what im doing.
i have like 760+ for M
my writing fluctuates, once 600(T_T) lol to 740 with an 8 essay.
so im hoping i can get 700+ for writing.
cr im good with a 630ish.

u should try to improv ur M, it shouldnt be too hard, wr i dk
i started with a 1430.
my goal in october can be anywhere in 2000< x < 2200.

did you not read my posts at all? My goal for CR this october is 650, Math is 700 , and Writing is 650.

Go go go! I'm with you

yyeah you can.

yes! Okay, so my goal for next may is changed from 2300 to 2200.

Thats reasonable assuming that you achieve your other goals as well. Just take the first test and go on from there. If you don't make your goal, you have to revise your plan either way. And if you surpass your goal, you're also going to have to revise your plans. thinking this far ahead is only going to make you more anxious.

my goal is a 1800..
lol

yeah you're right Khoi trinh. For now, October 4th, goal = 1950-2000! Anything in the middle, i ll be satisfied. Good luck on the 1800 Highschooler.
