Dreaming Case Western, and possibly JHU

Happy New Year all!!!

I’m a junior in HS and would like to get a feel for what’s competitive for my top choices.

I plan on majoring Biomedical Engineering in college, and have narrowed my first choice to Case Western. I am also holding a slim hope that JHU is possible, with U of Rochester as my safety net.

My question is, what do I have to work on to make my resume competitive for these schools? To my knowledge, Case accepts approximately 300 annually to their biomedical engineering, JHU close to 500. How do I become one of those.

Thanks for reading, any input is highly appreciated.

Finding research opportunities would be huge.

It seems from Case’s acceptances this year that they are considering demonstrated interest quite strongly. Make sure you visit and make it clear that they are your first or second choice.

Your UW GPA appears very weak as in both freshmen and sophomore year you had low/mid 3 points. Also, what are your ECs? You haven’t listed any on your chance me thread.

Thanks for all the inputs.

I found the admissions posts, thanks, great source, exactly what I was looking for.

My previously grades been poor, so I’m holding hope current grades and test scores will help admissions look past those.

My junior and senior years will help make a major push, as long as I maintain A’s.

Test scores been encouraging, I am aiming for low to mid 1500s in the spring.

I have a lot of EC, but none are worth mentioning, they are mostly boring and irrelevant.

Happy new years all, good luck to all applicants.
