For Dream and every other thin envelope person (my daughter included), here’s a quote I came across in Jerry Weintraub’s new memoir, When I Stop Talking You’ll Know I’m Dead-- Useful Stories from a Persuasive Man:

Just pretend you dont hear the word no. I have accomplished almost nothing on the first or second or even the third try the breakthrough usually comes late, when everyone else has left the field.

So fight on, wherever you land!

Dream,

Thanks for your many posts to the CC! We wish you the very best and you will be in our prayers. We are also from the Chicago suburbs and as you know, we the Midwesterners are the down to the earth bunch, but tough and never ever give up our dreams.

Dreams will live on and please do let us know how it turns out. Fight on!

Good luck!

I think that those that want to write in on Dreams behalf will contribute something very unique. Dream, try to include these letters with your appeal. How many people have done something like this for a school they love?

Well I’m done writing the appeal, in case anyone’s wondering. Now thinking about other things to include with it.

Good luck!!!

Dream,

What is your current status on your appeal? Please do keep us posted. You are in our prayers and may God bless!

They’ve received it and I’ll know by May 13th.

There have been so many wonderful kids applying to USC over the last few years that I have become attached to, but there were two in the 2010 cycle who hold a very special place in my heart. One started this wonderful thread, and the other is the subject of it.

Both added so much to this forum and were constant supporters of every other applicant on the forum. In the end, although both were wonderfully qualified for USC, they both received bad news and were rejected.

Dreamupsided0wn decided to appeal, and many College Confidential regulars contacted admissions to offer their endorsement. Moms offered to help with the appeals essay, and Dream put together a wonderful appeal. It too was rejected.

Proving her resiliency and perseverance, dream decided to attend a community college instead of NYU (where she had been admitted) and reapply as a transfer.

Today she emailed me the MOST amazing news:

:) DREAMUPSIDED0WN IS A TROJAN!!! :)

Congratulations to dream
