Does anyone know if there is a dress code for the orientation. Would jeans and a dress shirt be appropriate or dress slacks=not sure what to bring yet.

What I can remember we were told to dress nicely, but I know there were kids here that were not dressed as nice as others.

A 2C told me jeans and a t-shirt, so now I'm confused.

After being to a similar experience at West Point (although it was not orientation, it was essentially the same thing) I would reccomend khakis and a nice shirt...and pack extra clothes and maybe even some workout clothes. Depending on the cadet you get, you might have time to do random stuff.

Wearing a suit is definitely too nice, and wearing jeans and a tshirt is not the most respectful thing you can do.

Guy -- that is what I heard too. Khakis and nice shirt and be prepared.

Ok, thanks for the help. I guess it's Khakis and nice shirts.

Do the khakis apply to the girls, too? I'm bringing jeans and nice tops... eh?

There really isn't specific guidance. You don't have to dress fancily, but don't look like a slob. When you're picking out clothes to bring/wear, ask yourself if you think that will make a good impression on people who you WILL interact with during your cadet career.

UN, would jeans of ANY kind be considered a bad impression? If I had my choice I would were a nice pair of jeans with a nice dress shirt (normal for me). Or are jeans just not appropriate at all?

While some may disagree, I don't think a pair of nice jeans is bad. Wearing a jeans and t-shirt to things wouldn't be recommended, but if you wear a decent shirt, you should be good.

With that being said, the most fail-proof pants you can wear would be khakis.

Just returning from orientation, I'd say just don't look like a slob. Tons of people wore jeans, just make sure they're clean and don't have holes or anything.

Jeans and t-shirt was worn a lot or more like jeans and untucked polo, jeans and tucked polo, jeans and button down?

If you could elaborate more from your experience that'd be great.

I'd say your safest bet would be Jeans or Khakis with an un-tucked polo. As my cadet escort told me, this setup is so common he referred to it as a cadets "civilian uniform".

Thanks for the info.
