Wish we had a pic option!!
I need to work towards accepting the higher waist jeans.
I think these wide leg jeans are cute. The style have been around the block many times. No comparison to mommy jeans⦠those should die with the anything eighties fashion stuff.
@abasket - I love the higher waist jeans, but they suit my body type. Although I am only 5ā 4 1/2ā (donāt leave off that 1/2 - ha ha!), I am extremely long waisted for my height with legs that are short by comparison. The low-rise jeans always looked ridiculous on me because of how long-waisted I was. For those who are short-waisted, I donāt think the higher waist jeans work very well. The good news is that manufacturers seem to still continue to carry some mid-rise jeans.
Thankfully, I am at the stage of my life (as I think many are on this thread) where I can embrace the trends I like but donāt feel obligated to embrace those I donāt.
1/2 is more than a centimeter! That is a legit unit!
I am doing the half tuck, which works well with the high waist. One of the pictures on the website has a white shirt and is sort of how I am wearing them today.
When yāall are saying the half tuck, do you mean tucking in the front half of the shirt and leaving the back half untucked? Or are you tucking in one side (half) of the front of the shirt? I have started seeing the latter quite a bit lately.

For me a front tuck means the front part of the shirt, back half untucked. But I truly only tuck a bit in the front middle - barely a tuck, some looseness.
That model looks silly!
@Hoggirl , Iām like you. My torso seems longer than my legs so I love the high waist. It just looks so much better on me and is so comfy. I donāt do well in cropped pants either. Forget the tunic look. I remember when the low rise jeans were in fashion maybe 11 or 12 years agoā¦I had a pair and they just looked awful.
So, I just got these in the mail! They are wonderful, and the heel isnāt too high at all. I canāt wait to wear them. I already had pumps in more black and cream, yet wanted something more edgy in the this shade.
I know I could get a sweater or cardigan in that color, but would it be too matchy-matchy? Maybe wear with a cream cami? I donāt often wear black unless itās a Camisole.
Iām with abasket- I guess Iām doing a front tuck where it blouses just a little in the front and falls smoothly around the sides and backs-sort of gathered and not long at all. Covers the waistband and maybe a couple of inches more in the back/sides.
@BunsenBurner - I agree with you. My friend bough that shirt and wears it that way. She tries very hard to stay on trend.
@conmama - I LOVE those shoes! I would wear those with skinny ankle jeans and some sort of black sweater. But, since you donāt do much black, what about a camel colored (or tan or whatever it is - always hard to label colors online) sweater that is piped in black? I donāt think it would be too matchy matchy at all. But, Iād want a touch of black on the top half somewhere.
Iām glad to know we have similar builds - I can specifically seek your advice now! Capris/crops seem to exaggerate my long torso even more! So, I agree!
@Hoggirl , yes itās fun to find a like-built body. Itās sometimes a trial. If I find something specific that looks good, Iāll let you know! And likewise to ask your opinion!
I received my Rothyās in the mail and I cannot believe how comfortable they are!!
I have big bunions, low arches, and a narrow heel and flats are very hard to fit. But I wore these all day with no discomfort, they felt great.
They are not cheap but I am at the age where I buy fewer but better shoes. Iād much rather have these polished, professional flats that two or three cheaper pairs.
@surfcity, were your Rothyās true to size? I have a bunion on one foot also. Did you get the round toe or the pointed toe Rothyās? Iām a size 9 1/2 or 10 foot and donāt know which size to order. Narrow foot, but a big bunion on the right foot.
I donāt get the half-tuck thing. It looks stupid to me. OTOH I wouldnāt mind slightly higher rise jeans. My legs are fairly long - my over 6 foot tall sonās jeans fit me fine even though Iām at least six inches shorter!
It looks bizarre to me, either the front/back or the right/left. Just weird.
I do the half tuck rarely, and only with sweaters where I want to show more length in front, but the sweater is weighty enough to camouflage my belly. The back canāt be too long. I typically will tuck just one side then sort of āblouseā it. Sort of like thisā¦donāt know if the link works.
I like the look of the half tuck. Iāve tried it a few times and every time I do my H tells me that I have my shirt tucked in just in the front. He thinks heās helping and Iāve done It accidentally. Iām now scarred as to whether it doesnāt look good on me or he has no fashion sense. Iām hoping itās the later since today I wore a pair jeans of shoes to a lunch benefit that he doesnāt like and I had several compliments from strangers on my sandals.
I love the jeans @MomofWildChild bought but Iām not a fan of high waisted pants for me. I have an uneven hip/waist line and I do better with pants that sit on my hip bones. The lower waisted pants have been great for me. Iām also short waisted and I donāt love the look of high waisted pants on me. I am opening to try a few pair on to see if my mind can be changed.
My 16 year old calls it a āFrench tuck.ā I wear whatever I want to and yes, share some items with my teen girls. I definitely wear leggings and do not find it too young a style for me (Iām 46) as long as the fabric is substantial. When I want to try something new I order a Stitch Fix box. Iāve been happy with the selections and can send back what I donāt want. And I will not pay >$100 for shoes made from milk cartons. Nope.
