Something like this but in a lesser price point. Sweater Coat ā€“ Jenni Kayne

I normally wear a sundress or cropped jeans and a cute top with sandals this time of year in San Diego when going out. I wear a jean jacket or light cardigan for the evenings when it cools off near the water.

I just got the dress (in rust) and top (in mauve floral) below and I am loving both for summer!

I donā€™t have any pieces but Jenni Kanye is swoon worthy!

JCrew makes an inexpensive sweater blazer. I have a cashmere sweater like the one pictured but Iā€™m sure lighter. Mine is from Haven, which is a Talbots company, I got it very inexpensively this spring.

I wear denim jackets quite a bit as itā€™s cool in the evenings.

I donā€™t have anything from Jenni Kayne but I agree the stuff is swoon worthy. I have a similar sweater by Splendid that I bought a few years ago at the outlet.
I donā€™t find a Jean jacket comfortable but it would be fashionable I think if that is something you like.

Sounds like a fun trip!

Ha, perhaps I started the Shaket trend. Not really, but it is something I have been doing for years in the summer. I wear a sleeveless top (or dress) but bring along a button-down shirt as top layer in case needed ā€¦ usually 3/4 sleeves or a short sleeved cotton camp shirt.

In the winter I often have a short sleeved shirt with a long sleeved shirts - some of my favorites are a faux suade.

Hog girl, well Iā€™m packed for CA tomorrow. My Costco black jacket that weighs nothing is on the bottom. It has a rain hood. I have a nice off white cape with me. One sweater that could be used in the cabin(black cashmere)Jean jacket and rain jacket would take too much room. Beige cardigan cashmere eliminated, as heavy.

I will let you know when I return. Cute dress (the Anthropology one mentioned on here), skirt, a bathing suit and cover up, wearing fancy jeans out and back, a few tops, and thatā€™s it.

My sons new golden doodle will receive all 4 star war toys. They might have already, but they can always give as gifts.

Iā€™ll let you know what worked and what could have been better

Night out with son and friends outfit. Snake skin pumps would be cute, too.

Ha! This is great! Reminds me of shirts I wore in college!

I love that, but I donā€™t think I am tall enough to pull that off. I am only 5ā€™4ā€ and fairly small framed. I kind of swim in things like that. However, they look great on my TALL mother-in-law :joy:

I really think I did this all the time in the mid-80ā€™s

That would be great! Thanks!

Can always count on @soozievt to come up with a TON of options! Shopper extraordinaire!

I LOVE all those white eyelet tops. Love them. BUT, I donā€™t understand how I am supposed to wear a jacket over them. So many of them are puffy/flowy in the sleeves, and it just seems like any jacket would just crush them. I actually own this to (which is lace, not eyelet). I do wear it up on rather than off my shoulders. But, I canā€™t see wearing this with a jacket. And, I know I would freeze at nighttime without one. Maybe I can do it for a brunch/lunch.

And several of my, ā€œjazzy tops,ā€ are thin and somewhat billowy as well.

My favorite look is actually the moto jacket that @conmama shared. Is that still, ā€œinā€? I have no idea. I was surprised at how many of dsā€™s female friends were wearing black leather jackets in June when we were here two summers ago. But, it is just COOL at night! But, I wouldnā€™t put a moto jacket over a flowy top.

I appreciate everyoneā€™s help! Thank you!

@Hoggirl Not every top has billowy sleeves. For instance, there is the Mirabelle Eyelet Top in pink or white from Sundance with just regular sleeves. A jacket or cardigan could go over that.

I had suggested mostly long sleeve tops to you because you feel you will get cold. But a cute short sleeve top with more fitted sleeves would work and as it cools down, one of the light weight jackets or cardigans I linked to would work. I donā€™t think you need a long sleeve top AND a jacket/cardigan in the 60s.

Also, what about a sundress and for when you are outside, get one of the cardigans I linked to earlier?

I just got up, so Iā€™ll look more later. But it is still in at least where I live. It better be, I own tons. Plus, I always look at the ā€œyouthfulā€ store like Evereve as a guide sometime.

Agree. Moto jackets are a classic.

So, I got the dreaded news yesterday that Iā€™m expected to report back in-person to my office on August 2nd. My work wardrobe has consisted of leggings and hoodies for the past 16 months. I just took a look through my closet and everything I have for work looks sort of dated (especially the pants, which mostly lean toward slim fit). Time to refresh, I guess. Work clothes shopping is my least favorite kind of clothes shopping.

Anyone in the mood to browse things for me? Specifically, pants that are both office-appropriate, flattering and comfy. My office is ā€œbusiness casualā€ - no jeans, but almost anything else is acceptable.
