my son is in the process of filling out questionnaires to various colleges & drexel is on his list. my question is how is the safety on campus & surrounding areas. i have read several reviews saying it wasnt very safe with lots of burglaries....thanks for any help

As a Drexel student, I can say, with a lot of confidence that the people who get burgled are people who ask to be burgled. What I mean by that is - leaving their car unlocked, parked on the street, in the middle of a city. Or better yet, leaving their brand new MacBook unattended in the library. Drexel is as safe as any other city campus. It is up to the student to ensure that they and their belongings stay safe. If the student isn’t smart about it, but then obviously they might run into some issues. However, I will say that in my year + as a student on this campus, I have never been robbed, assaulted, or even felt uncomfortable walking back to my dorm late at night alone. We have a great police escort system, and the Drexel/Penn police are very visible on campus. Obviously, west Philadelphia has some less-than-palatable neighborhoods, but most people are smart enough to stay out of them altogether.
