Drexel Vs Rutgers

ok so i got accepted into both and i am trying to decide between the drexel co op and rutgers.
i want to go into marketing
its kind of a big problem because i feel the drexel co op would do good for my chances of getting a good job later on and i can learn and gain a lot from the co op. i feel job experience is important.
BBBBBUUUUUUTTTT rutgers has an excellent business school, is well known, AND im in state so it would be MUCH cheaper.

please post your opinions, they are very much appreciated. thanksss

i think alot has to do with where you want to be..like, im from jersey as well and refused to apply to rutgers even though i knew i would get in. i lived my whole life in jersey and i wanted somewhere else, something new. no doubt rutgers is a great school, but new brunswick isnt exactly the greatest college town, where as philly is amazing and has lots of things to do and experience. but if money is an issue, then i would likely choose rutgers over drexel, unless you get money from drexel (i just received a letter today notifying me that i got a 42,000 dollar scholarship so maybe you received something like that too?)

marbar, don't you have to get a certain gpa and then apply to the business school at Rutgers? Are you directly admitted into the business program at Drexel? I think that really does matter. The other thing to consider is that for a lot of the time Drexel students are on a different schedule than friends at other colleges. We have a neighbor who goes to Drexel and in September for freshman and sophomore year he was home alone (everyone left for school about 4 weeks before he did). Also, if you did want to transfer for some reason, is there going to be a problem transferring drexel credits because of a possible difference in the length of weeks of each course? I am not sure, but where there are differences in 4 credits vs. 3 credits, and length of semesters there could be a problem, so you might investigate.

I have been impressed with the coop jobs that Drexel students get. Drexel has a large pool of companies that take coop students, so it is relatively easy to get jobs. Also, it is in a city, so getting to the jobs is relatively easy using mass transit.During the coop many students earn about $15000
Drexel University appears to improving greatly overall in the past 5 years.( Businessweek just rate their part time MBA very highly) Rutgers has a better national reputation, but it appears that their academics are now suffering because of the emphasis ( and throwing money away )on football and women's basketball.
In addition, it would be good to get away from New Jersey, even if Philadelphia is the not that far. You will get a different view of life.
If you can get merit aid to bring down the cost, Drexel is definitely a consideration.

i recently got a scholarship, but its nowhere near as the one jerseygirl221 got... go you though thats great!
it does, however, bump the cost down to roughly the same amount as rutgers, but it is still higher.
i like philly way more than new brunswick but rutgers def seems to be way more reputable school than drexel.
