Maybe it works for shorter tests, but sugar will only affect you negatively in the long run.

coffee has a diuretic effect, so be prepared to be distracted by your bladder :-)

I get super pumped for these types of tests so much that my hands are shaking. Stimulants help me focus when I’m in this condition.

If you do what to drink coffee or to take any “sugary” item I recommend taking it in small doses over the entire exam. When I took the SAT, I probably had a small sip of coffee every 20 - 30 minutes. Just enough to keep me going, but not enough to make me crash.

I highly recommend when you take a practice SAT to also take whatever additive you choose to take to see how it affects your score.

You can take a chocolate bar and a banana.
OR
Take my experience. For, although I am a Coffee lover and has drank it since my sophomore year-daily, I didn’t take even a sip of coffee before any of my SATs. All you REALLY need is to RELAX, sleep for 7 hrs-not more or less cuz it will have terrible consequences- and meet your BIG day.
Note that you need to get A LOT of Panadol tablets. Believe me, you WILL need them.

Oh, God!!! My Jan’s exam was a disaster, I was getting slowly detached from the whole world, needed to throw up and was about to faint. But, magically, things greatly improved later!!!

Same as AvidStudent - one larger gulp of Red Bull before the test and regular sips after each section did the trick for me. Then again, I slept pretty well the night before and believed in the power of energy drinks.

In short - if anything seems like a good idea and comforts you, it is a good idea precisely for that reason. But there’s no point in emulating the preferences of others if it would bug you down on the whole, and that is even if we assume that emulation of 2400 scorers can give you some comfort, too :)

I think this will be the topic of May Essay " should people Drink Coffee or any think that makes them more attentive before the SAT test or Not "

^^^Note your flagrant grammar and diction. And stop mocking others. The guy is asking for help.

I actually went through 4 or 5 pieces of 5 Gum (the flavor with blue wrappers) during my December SAT (I changed pieces after each break). That kept me going and worked out well in the end.

I had two cups of coffee about an hour before taking this last January SAT and I felt extremely alert and quick. The only negative aspect was holding it until the first break. Thankfully it made the essay seem like FOREVER.

I would suggest trying it on a few practice tests first, everyone’s body may react differently to different things, so the best option is to try it out before the real deal.

Mirinda : " WHY SO SERIOUS " . I’m just kidding .Actually i drink one cup of nescafe before any of my tests and i always have a gum in my mouth during the test , so why should i be mocking others
And about my flagrant grammer , english is not my first language,so please stop mocking me
and i would be pleased if u rephrase my post and help me understand my mistake rather than saying " Note your flagrant grammar and diction " . as if u don’t want me to post again in this forum
after all i just say thank u and i hope u understood my comment in the right way
TRUFFLIEPUFF : i really don’t mean anything bad with my comment ; I am just kidding

^^^Pardon. I didn’t mean to be offensive. But, that’s sth that is very casual on CC. You should never expect less than this. And as bad as this aspect of CC might be, it is, at the same time, its greatest virtue. Here, mocking isn’t bluff or baloney. Instead, it is very important for you. For the more you log on CC, the more you will get mocked and the more you will learn from those acerbic comments. It is for your benefit. And, by the way, it is so obvious that you are from the Middle East, particularly from North Africa.

P.S.: Try to reduce your sarcastic comments. Don’t banter a lot, for nobody likes it.
